Choose the configuration you need
Storage JSON Builder
Define disks, named partitions, RAID components and filesystems. Start from a template, edit the form or JSON, inspect the viewer and copy or download the result.
Best suited to preparing a storage-layout draft for an installer that understands the generated structure. Its validation confirms JSON syntax, not disk compatibility or a safe installation.
Provisioning YAML Builder
Draft Ubuntu autoinstall, cloud-init, Netplan and related provisioning artifacts. Set network and authentication choices, compare generated and manual previews, then export the file you need.
Useful when assembling a provisioning workflow. Review each artifact against its own platform requirements; selecting a distribution does not create a native unattended installer for every operating system.
Review a draft before applying it
- Confirm the target machine, device names, interface names and installer version.
- Replace example values, including SSH keys and PXE or seed URLs, with values for infrastructure you control.
- Check the output against the target schema and test in a disposable environment before using it on an important system.
- Keep a recovery path for any change that can alter storage, networking or access.
The builders prepare text files. They do not access your disks, provision a server or validate that a remote service is reachable.
How your input is handled
After the application assets load, configuration editing and generation run in your browser. The builders do not submit your configuration to Root. Export anything you need to retain before closing or resetting the page. Keep downloaded configurations and private key material under your own access controls.
Read the tool privacy information and free-tool terms. If the configuration is part of a larger business change, Root’s server administration and infrastructure consulting pages explain the related engineering scope.
